Used IBM 8230 Control Access Units

First generation IBM 8230 Control Access Units (CAU's). Choose from the IBM 8230-001 and IBM 8230-002 CAU's. Order the base IBM 8230 model and specify up to four of the Lobe Access Module (LAM's), allowing up to 80 Token Ring ports per IBM 8230 CAU. Tie multiple IBM 8230 CAU's together via the standard Type 1 RI/RO modules on the unit or attach via FIBER by specifying the 8230 #5503 fiber modules. All first generation Control Access Units are CMOL managed (Look at 2nd generation models below for SNMP management models).

Second generation IBM 8230 Control Access Units (CAU's). Choose from the IBM 8230-003, IBM 8230-013 and IBM 8230-213 CAU's, designed for larger workgroup Token Ring environments supporting connectivity from 2 to 92 devices. Or choose from the smaller IBM 8230-04A and IBM 8230-04P CAU's designed for low end and remote branch Token Ring scenarios. Order the base IBM 8230 model and specify the Lobe Access Module (LAM's) and/or Lobe Insertion Unit (LIU's). All second generation Control Access Units are CMOL and SNMP managed. Pictured above is the IBM 8230-003. It has the following LIU's and Modules installed into the unit: 1st slot is empty, 2nd slot is a #2009 LIU, 3rd slot is a #2008 LIU, 4th slot is a #2011 LIU, 5th slot is a #2007 RI/RO module, and not pictured (installed on the motherboard) is a #2029 Dual Ring Redundancy Feature.
