The Alcatel OmniSwitch 6800 is a family of products by Alcatel of triple speed (10/100/1000 Mbps) Ethernet switches.  Each Alcatel OS6800 switch has wire rate layer-2 forwarding, layer-3 routing, unicast and multicast routing and comprehensive QoS services, 4 built in combo ports and support for optional wire speed 2-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet modules (OS6800-XNI-U2).  There are 5 models of the Alcatel OS6800 available.  The Alcatel OS6800-24 is a 24-port model comprised of twenty 10/100/100BaseTx ports and four  combo RJ-45 and miniGBIC (SFP) ports.  The Alcatel OS-6800-24L is a 24-port model comprised of twenty 10/100BaseTx ports which are software upgradeable to 10/100/1000 speed and four combo RJ-45 and miniGBIC (SFP) ports.  The Alcatel OS6800-48 is a 48-port model comprised of forty-four 10/100/100BaseTx ports and four combo RJ-45 and miniGBIC (SFP) ports.  The Alcatel OS-6800-48L is a 48-port model comprised of fourty-four 10/100BaseTx ports which are software upgradeable to 10/100/1000 speed and four combo Rj-45 and miniGBIC (SFP)ports. And finally, the Alcatel OS6800-U24 is a 24-port model comprised of twenty mini-GBIC (SFP) ports and four combo RJ-45 and miniGBIC (SFP) ports.  Each Alcatel OS6800 model has a 40 Gbps stacking capacity, wire rate forwarding for 10/100/1000/10,000 port speeds, 9 KB jumbo frames capacity and 16K MAC addresses.  The Alcatel OS6800-48, Alcatel OS-6800-48L, Alcatel OS6800-24 and Alcatel OS6800-24L have a 160 Gbps switching capacity, while the Alcatel OS6800-U24 has a 80 Gbps switching capacity.
