Lucent GRF® MultiGigabit Routers—the GRF 1600 and the GRF 400 products—are specially designed to deliver consistent high performance in dynamic, heavy-traffic IP networking environments. A unique scalable architecture combines Layer-3 switching with intelligent IP forwarding for packet forwarding performance up to 10 million packets per second. Both the Lucent GRF 1600 and the Lucent GRF 400 come populated with 128 Mb Dram. Both models have four open SIMM slots available for additional memory. Other highlights of the Lucent GRF product lines include:

• Ensures industry-leading price per port and price/performance with a compact chassis that supports up to 128 ports.

• Supports a broad suite of routing protocols to ensure compatibility with all IP networks and applications.

• Uses media-independent routers so customers can choose any combination of HSSI, HIPPI, Ethernet, FDDI, POS, and ATM.

• Dedicates each media card to a 1 Gbps bandwidth connection to the switch to ensure maximum performance and full scalability of up to 16 ATM OC-12c/STM-4 media cards.
